Appeal of my alt, Duck575

Mojang Name: Duck575 (Alt of _TheRedex)
When you were banned (approximately): Like years ago, probably over 3 years
Why you were banned (if known): “not following bot account rules”, more on that later
Why you should be pardoned: It has been ages, and I believe the ban reason was unjustified at the time.

I believe the ban reason isn’t justified due to the fact that bot account rules didn’t really exist properly at the time I got banned (at least I remember that being the case, and, as far as I know, I was the person who caused them to be added in the first place), and I wasn’t even using the bot maliciously. I wrote my own program just to chat with people on my phone, and the API I was using makes the bot behave exactly how a normal Minecraft client would behave (except I can’t really see obviously, because it’s a chat). No one was ever harmed by that bot, and it only got banned because staff got pissy (I don’t remember who it was) when I told them that there is no rule I’m infringing upon.

I’m making this appeal in faith that this won’t get denied and potentially extended (or my main would get banned), because that has been the case with nearly every appeal I have made, so I just don’t appeal anymore (because I deem the appeal system next to useless), and wait it out. You can notice I’m slightly frustrated by the tone, because I have doubts that this will be successful, due to a long history of many appeals I believe to be legitimate, being denied. Perhaps I’m wrong and something has changed in over 7 years (yes I counted)?

Another note: I’ve been waiting for a proper chatting system on ORE and a way to document alts for over 5 years by now, I’ve been suggesting this over and over again - there’s even a thread about this on the ORE Discord that is 2 years old and still not resolved. I believe ORE players shouldn’t be restricted to just redstone, because many community members have made the same complaints I have, without any proper resolution. I highlighted community because ORE is a community. Just because a lot of the server’s members are redstoners doesn’t mean they can’t have other things to do (this is why servers like survival and boat should exist). The chatting system could potentially resolve many of the issues with bots (I even made working prototypes of the system which I mentioned on multiple occasions, only to get minimal acknowledgements with zero action).

Staff are currently reviewing your appeal and will attempt to provide a verdict within the next few days.

Note that this response was reached following a vote and agreement of the staff team.

You were directly told that it broke the bot rules which were in place at the time and warned multiple times not to continue.

I’m not opposed to changes to ORE’s systems, but your appeal is not the right place for it.

Reviewing the situation, it seems you were, at the time, intentionally ignoring multiple warnings while arguing about whether the rules were fair. If you are informed that you are breaking the rules and feel it is unfair, the best course of action is to avoid further rule-breaking and bring the issue to the attention of staff or the community.

Our decision is that while we’re not entirely opposed to an unban, this appeal isn’t gonna cut it. Remaining adamant that you were entirely in the right and that “it only got banned because staff got pissy” really does not reflect well on what allowing the alt to return would entail. You are free to attempt another appeal after at least 1 week.
