Setting to play the server on -1.12?

The version is very fun, I like how when you type commands in versions before the recommendation thing, the chat is fully white, not the really ugly gray

I think there are no sufficient reasons to downgrade a version for a server.

There is a lot of stuff on /play, and if your are willing to delete all that / delete blocks that didn’t exist in 1.12, please explain why.

Are you asking about support for 1.12 clients?

The ability to play on version 1.12

Id have three questions:

  • Why not just ask for viaversion that supports 1.12?
  • Why do you need 1.12 for play?
  • Why specifically play?

That version is from 2017. For ORE, it’s definitely highly outdated. ORE literally used 1.16 back in like 2021, just to let you know that there’s strong preference for newer Minecraft versions. Therefore, I highly doubt this suggestion will get accepted. In addition, many plots that do experimentation on /play use blocks that are at least from 1.17 (i.e. amethyst), so for 1.12, it’s gonna have some trouble loading pretty much any plot there exists, so even if the server did allow 1.12, it’d probably be useless for clients playing on the play server.

Also, to my knowledge, ORE only allows one server to be used on all sub-servers. So if ORE is 1.21.8, all servers are 1.21.8. While there is compatibility with 1.19.4, it’s just a slightly older version - just enough to support pretty much all new fancy Minecraft features without taking away everything. There’s a major gap between 1.12 and 1.19.4, so once that’s downgraded - poof, lots of supported things are now taken away from everyone, and it’d cause more harm than good.

That aside,

The version is very fun, I like how when you type commands in versions before the recommendation thing, the chat is fully white, not the really ugly gray

    1. Just, I guess, don’t look at the “recommendation thing”? Or at least get used to it
    1. “the chat is fully white, not the really ugly gray” You should either get used to it or somehow customize the chat, I’m sure there’s a Minecraft mod for that somewhere

In addition, it does not make sense for me why you want specifically the /play server to be affected if these effects that you’re not a fan of are entire Minecraft-wide.

They didn’t specify the play server, just wanting to play on 1.12. Regardless, we won’t be supporting 1.12. We support the latest and previous major versions, so 1.21 and 1.20 are the only two supported right now. The server runs on 1.21.8 natively, so use that for best experience.

If you want to get rid of command recommendations, I bet there is a mod that can do that.

Oh, they want all of ORE being 1.12.

I guess I misunderstood it then.

Yeah, @sprynebula52598_5595, that’s not gonna happen, it will break 99% of all builds, including redstone creations.

There is no valid reason I could think of to downgrade the server, and these you named are not even enough to make changes to viaversion. That’s basically just two opinions you have, or preferences or whatever you want to call them. That’s highly subjective, so no, it’s not ever gonna happen.

As others said, there are ways to implement these client side jobs on 1.21.8.

I also misunderstood it. But all of ORE? Would also result in major catastrophic outcomes. Here’s why:

  1. The thing is, be it build, play, boat, school - 99% of ORE plots have at least one block from 1.17+. Users in 1.12 literally won’t be able to render basically any plot that there exists, so that’s useless. And if they choose to convert the server to 1.12 entirely… well… like, hundreds of millions of blocks from versions newer than 1.12 will be gone, causing major griefing to everyone’s plot.

  2. Next, 1.20+ is bustling with new features, and downgrading to 1.12 means these new features will be taken away from basically anyone. Everybody will get furious, and there will be more harm done than good.

  3. Next, there are many really cool plugins installed on ORE which make this server so engaging. When downgrading to 1.12, compatibility with these plugins will break, and the only thing that could be possible is to remove these plugins, and if that happens, kaboom - the server will become really boring, and just be a server with plots to build on - no other fancy stuff like Discord, nicknames, Patrick, etc.

  4. Finally, there will be no way to undo this - players will already leave the server thinking this server just got more boring and will never get as exciting as it used to, and others will leave because their plot was griefed, with all the new 1.13+ blocks just being taken away from their plots. Some people build with these blocks (i.e. amethyst), and if there’s redstone on them, their redstone contraptions will get griefed and they won’t be able to report it.

I think it’s safe to say we’ll never do this and to close this.
