Your favorite thing about redstone:
Honestly, I think my favorite thing about redstone is that it’s in a mainstream game. There’s quite a few engineering-related games that I don’t play simply because my friends aren’t into them. But everyone likes Minecraft, even non-technical players. So I get to enjoy redstone with my non-technical friends and everyone has fun.
A build you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge (This is your trial build):
8-bit hex ALU
Explain what your build does in detail:
This is an 8-bit ALU where the inputs and outputs (and even the adder / subtractor) use hex signals (redstone dust of strength 0 to 15). There are control levers to change the ALU operation, plus 2 inputs of 2 hexes each, as well as the carry in. It can be tiled to support arbitrarily-large word sizes.
Color scheme:
White: Input, output, or busses
Yellow: Control wires
Red: Controlled not gates
Brown: Hex to binary converters
Blue: Bitwise ALU
Purple: Hex adder
Cyan: Multiplexer
Supported operations:
AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR, XNOR, Add, Subtract (A - B), Subtract (B - A)
Images / videos of the build:
Demonstration of 0xEF + 0x3F = 0x2E (plus carry)
What is the name of the warp for your build on ORE?: /warp Gii2000-2-hex-ALU
