Your favorite thing about redstone:
i like its similarity to computer based logic systems. since one can build a full basis of boolean algebra in it, one can build every circut one could build on real silicon for real cpus. i now want to build my own computation devices in minecraft, that will be super cool B-)

A build you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge (This is your trial build):
i have made a simple 4 bit ALU which can do +,- and all logic operations (xor, or, and, and their not’s)

Explain what your build does in detail:
for every bit a,b := ith bit of A,B it computes
t1 = a xor b and c1 = a and b, so (c1, t1) = (a + b in binary)
then i compute Di = t1 xor carry in, which will be the final digit of this order,
and c2= t1 and cin which give me wether the c1 and t1 give me a carry.
now if i do cout = c1 or c2, i get (cout, Di) = cin + a + b.
(or is enaugh here because c1 and c2 cant both be 1, since c1 = 1 => t1 = 0 => c2 = 0)

one can also for example set all cout’s to 1, which causes the second xor gate to just negate t1
and simulainiusly “disables” information traveling from lower bits to higher bits, makeing them independent. this results in Di beeing not(a xor b), and gives an easy way to compute A nxor B.

through powering a specific redstone one turns it from an not a or not b to 1, which causes the first xor to behave as an or, while simultaniously turing the and from the c1=a and b into a 0.
this means that di = (a or b) xor cin and cout = (a or b) and cin, so setting cin = 0 we get A or B and with cin = 1 we get not(A or B).

now we can also use the inversion of the inputs a and b to get and = not (not a or not b) and nand = (not a or not b). the inversion of one input, say B and setting the carry flag causes the alu to compute A - B in 2’s complement, so we get all gates.
