What do you like the most about redstone?: Having read the other topics in this thread, I know this is going to sound kitschy, but I’ve always been struck by the profound mass of engineering which goes into the design of computing machinery, and am always left with this one conclusion: at the end of it all, when you strip away the software and the OS and the kernel and (etc), everything that’s being done is governed by a freakishly simple set of rules.
To put it shortly, computer science is the science of permutation, and it rules
What’s a thing you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge?:
I don’t want to spoil it.
COMPUTING ANY VALUE IN MINECRAFT USING ONLY ONE BIT??? | EP. 657 | EPIC MINECRAFT REDSTONE
What does the thing do?: Fine, I’ll spoil it. It computes your usual 4-bit ALU result, using only one segment of the ALU and one non-input register. (Doesn’t have shifts and only technically has SUB, a very minor edit would allow SUB to be considered screen computable)
What do you plan on making for your build trial?: The same ALU segment as is featured in the video, but arranged in an RCA (plus shifts and sub, obvi)
Do you agree with the rules?: Yeah Brother
